Adeyo Ashanna, MD
Dr. Adedayo Ashana is a comprehensive spine surgeon with dual Orthopedic-Neurosurgical fellowship training. Dr. Ashana focuses on all aspects of the spine including the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions.
Dr. Ashana has a particular interest in the field of minimally invasive spine (MIS) surgery. Dr. Ashana frequently teaches minimally invasive techniques to orthopedic and neurosurgery spine colleagues in and outside the United States. He is well-versed in the use of motion preservation techniques along with cutting-edge robotic and navigation-assisted spine surgeries. Dr. Ashana is one of the few spine surgeons routinely performing endoscopic spine surgeries in the United States. He is involved in the design and improvement of spine instrumentation and techniques with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. Ashana completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center, where he had the distinction of being named chief resident. He then completed a compressive dual Orthopedic-Neurosurgical spine fellowship program at the Texas Medical Center (TMC). At TMC, the largest medical center in the nation, Dr. Ashana trained at many of America’s top institutions (including MD Anderson, Houston Methodist, Baylor, and Texas Children’s Hospital) where he was exposed to the full breadth of spine surgery techniques and technology. This unusual breadth of training continues to guide Dr. Ashana’s clinical practice.
Dr. Ashana is an active member of the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a published author who speaks about his research and teaches in the medical community.
Dr. Ashana believes no two patients are the same and works closely with each individual to deliver a tailored approach to their spine problem.
