Medcura awarded $333,333 through Maryland’s Build Our Future Grant Program

We’re continuing to build the future of bleeding control — right here in Maryland.
The Medcura team is proud to share that we’ve been awarded $333,333 through Maryland’s Build Our Future Grant Program, an initiative led by Governor Wes Moore and the Maryland Department of Commerce to support innovation infrastructure across the state.
“This grant will help us transform our Prince George’s County lab and headquarters into an end-to-end manufacturing facility so that we’re ready to scale production of our bleeding control biomaterials as they receive FDA approval,” says Medcura Chief Operating Officer John Barry.
Our work includes LifeGel™, the first and only absorbable hemostatic agent to receive an FDA Breakthrough Device Designation.
The science behind LifeGel™ began in a University of Maryland lab, where our founder and Chief Scientific Officer, Matthew Dowling, earned his PhD in bioengineering.
Now, Maryland is helping us take that homegrown innovation to the next level, supporting our mission to bring safe, effective, and accessible bleeding control solutions to patients everywhere.
